A formulation containing florfenicol for use in freshwater-reared finfish feeds only. Indicated for the control of mortality in catfish due to enteric septicemia and for the control of mortality in freshwater-reared salmonids due to coldwater disease.

Overview

In catfish, Aquaflor (florfenicol) is approved for the control of mortality due to enteric septicemia of catfish associated with Edwardsiella ictaluri.

In freshwater-reared salmonids, Aquaflor (florfenicol) is indicated for the control of mortality due to furunculosis associated with Aeromonas salmonicida, as well as the control of mortality due to coldwater disease associated with Flavobacterium psychrophilum.

In freshwater-reared finfish, Aquaflor (florfenicol) is indicated for the control of mortality due to columnaris disease associated with Flavobacterium columnare. Aquaflor also can be used in freshwater-reared warmwater fish or the control of mortality due to streptococcal septicemia associated with Streptococcus iniae.

Federal law restricts medicated feed containing this veterinary feed directive (VFD) drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.
